Chest pain is not, in fact, a typical symptom of angina pectoris. The feeling of chest oppresive feeling is an important symptom. However, it is not always only in the chest area. Sometimes the symptom is said to be in the throat or the left shoulder. We, as cardiologists, always have angina in mind. I always tell medical students and residents that if they have symptoms in the abdomen, they should think of abdominal disease and lesions involving the chest and not the abdomen, and if they have symptoms in the chest, they should think of lesions in the chest and not the chest.
